By train and bus

From Stockholm: Take the commuter train to Bålsta (sit at the front of the train) and change to UL bus 311 heading for Skokloster. The journey takes approx. 75 minutes.

From Västerås: Take the SJ train to Bålsta and change to UL bus 311 towards Skokloster.

From Uppsala: Take the UL bus 895 towards Bålsta and get off at Yttergrans kyrka then change to bus 311 heading to Skokloster. The journey takes 1 hour and 40 minutes.

By boat from Uppsala

Before the age of car travel, the most common means of reaching Skokloster Castle was by boat. Today there is still a boat service to and from the castle. In the summer season you can choose either the “Carl Gustaf” or the “Linnea” which depart from Uppsala. They operate at different times during the day.

By boat from Stockholm and Sigtuna

Coming from Stockholm, Strömma continue to operate their boat trips departing from Stadshuskajen towards Skokloster Castle and Sigtuna.

By car

From Stockholm: Take the E18 towards Oslo/Enköping, get off the freeway at Bro and get on the 269/263 county road, and follow the signs for Skokloster. The journey takes approximately one hour although the distance is only 70 km.

Another option is to take the E4 northbound. Get off at the junction for Märsta, and take the 263 county road which passes through Sigtuna and continue to Skokloster and Enköping. After the turn-off for the 263, twelve kilometres of country road lies ahead - winding its way through a district of ancient rural countryside. rich in cultural traditions, scattered with rune stones and surrounded by fertile fields.

From Uppsala: Follow Dag Hammarskjölds väg/road over the Flottsund bridge, then take Gamla/Old Stockholmsvägen/-road to Vassunda. Get off at Sigtuna, in Österby there are signs for Skokloster. The Skokloster castle is located 50 km from Uppsala.

From Västerås-Enköping: Take the E18 towards Stockholm, get off for Skokloster at the junction in Bålsta, and follow the signs. The distance from Bålsta is 28 km.

There is a car park next to the church.

THE COLLECTIONS

Skokloster Castle, built in the baroque style between 1654 and 1676, is one of the mayor monuments from the historic period when Sweden was one of the most powerful countries in Europe.

THE CASTLE GROUNDS

The park has something to offer in every season and is always open to the general public. We welcome you to stroll down lime tree avenues dating back to the 1680s or play games on the extensive lawns.
