Queen Charlotte

- a Bridgerton saga at Skokloster Castle

See spectacular costumes, tiaras, and wigs from the romantic world of the Bridgerton family. Experience the story of young Queen Charlotte and her beloved King George in this summer’s exhibition at Skokloster Castle near Stockholm, Sweden.

Never before has there been a major exhibition about Bridgerton—until now. Thanks to a unique collaboration with Netflix and Shondaland, 21 costumes, tiaras, jewelry, and wigs from the popular spin-off series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will be on display this summer.

In the TV series, the storyline jumps 50 years back in time to the 1760s, depicting the young queen’s early days with King George III. We follow their love, which overcomes all obstacles, as well as Queen Charlotte’s journey to becoming the confident queen we know from the Bridgerton series.

This is the first major exhibition about Bridgerton, made possible thanks to Netflix and Shondaland. We want all visitors, especially devoted Bridgerton fans, to love the exhibition.

A Sparkling Wedding Gown

This summer’s exhibition brings the royal couple Charlotte and George into the magnificent guest rooms of Skokloster Castle. Among their belongings are their dazzling wedding attire and the queen’s splendid coronation gown. They have also brought along some friends, with creations from Princess Augusta, Lady Ledger, and Lady Danbury on display.

Christian Dior as a Major Inspiration

Beyond the love story of the royal couple, the exhibition explores the real-life Charlotte, who was Queen of England from 1761 to 1818. It also provides insight into 18th-century fashion and the work of the Emmy-nominated costume designers behind the outfits.

Here, haute couture meets historical style—with a twist. Designers such as Christian Dior and Roger Vivier from the 1950s have been major sources of inspiration. Among the costumes and jewelry, visitors will see interpretations of royal bling from history, as well as fabrics from suppliers to the current royal family.

It's not a history lesson. It's fiction based on reality.

What is Bridgerton?

The story of the Bridgerton family and the British court is a romantic, historical fantasy set around 1810. American author Julia Quinn wrote the books, and Shonda Rhimes, through her production company Shondaland, brought the story to a new level with the series. Since its Netflix premiere in 2020, the show has become a global pop culture phenomenon for several reasons: string quartets play music by artists like Beyoncé and Rihanna, the wigs are stunning, and the empire-era fashion enthusiastically incorporates references from the 20th century. Many of the young actors have since become major stars, and Bridgerton-themed experiences are now held worldwide. In December 2025, the fourth season of Bridgerton will premiere on Netflix.

Did you know?

This is not the first time foreign royalty has visited the castle: In the early 1800s, Empress Amélie of Brazil and the future Tsar Alexander II of Russia visited Skokloster Castle. In the mid-20th century, the Crown Prince—later Emperor—of Japan, as well as the last Shah of Iran, also paid visits.
