Summer at the Castle 2023

Do a day trip this summer to Skokloster Castle! The castle is located on the shores of Lake Mälaren, close to Stockholm and Uppsala. The castle are open June 1 to August 31 with castle tours, exhibitions, children's activities and castle café.

Guided tours

Meet count Carl Gustaf Wrangel and countess Anna Margareta von Haugwitz who had the castle built in the mid 17th century and get to know the people who lived and worked at Skokloster over the years. The guided tours takes approximately 45 minutes.

Celebrate the National Day of Sweden

Welcome and celebrate the National Day of Sweden with music, food and Children's theatre.

Children's theatre – The Ugly Duckling (in Swedish)

12.30 and 14.30

The theatre are a combination of puppet theater and dramatic play where the children can participate interactively, singing songs and repeating rhymes. The theatre is recommended for children between 2–6 of age.

The theater will be played on the castle's entrance floor. Free of charge to participate.

Experience camp life of the 17th century

11.00 – 17.00

A replica of the 17th century boat Margareta Nilsdotter "Maggan" will be docketed ourside the castle. Experience camp life with various crafts and talk to sailors and soldiers from the 17th century!

Plant raising and activities in "Paradiset"

Welcome to our cozy cottage next to the castle! Explore nature and learn more about plants. You can also do crafts, ride stick horses and much more! The activity is free of charge. It is not possible to pre-book tickets.

Summer exhibitions

We offer two temporary exhibitions during the summer. The exhibitions are included in the entrance fee.

Great Dutch Master Paintings Revisited

For the first time, the Dutch photographer Hendrik Kersten's photos are shown in Sweden. The portraits are contemporary photography inspired by 17th century Dutch painting.

A party at the castle! - Skokloster's friends association celebrate 25 years

The Skokloster Castle Friends Association celebrates 25 years and we invite you to celebrate with a festive program. Admission to Skokloster Castle is SEK 120. The entrance fee includes entrance to temporary exhibitions. Children and youths up to the age of 19 have free admission. Tickets do not need to be booked in advance.

  • 12.30-13.30 Circus mingling and performance by a jester from the "Cirkuspiraten." The performance and mingle will be held inside the castle.
  • 13.30-14.00 Baroque dance with the dance group Pied en l´air in the portico on the entrance floor of the castle.
  • 13.30-15.30 Try your hand at circus arts with the "Cirkuspiraten" - balance and juggling in the park outside the main entrance.
  • 14.30-15.00 Baroque dance with the dance group Pied en l´air in the portico on the entrance floor of the castle.
  • 15.00-15.30 Baroque music with Bengt Kylsberg. Gathering outside the park entrance.
  • 15.30-16.15 Historical buildings walking tour with Bengt Kylsberg. Gathering outside the park entrance.
  • 16.15-16.30 The day ends with a speech by Chairman Christer Nilsson and Museum Director Jessica Söderqvist. The speech will be held at the entrance stairs.
  • 16.30-17.00 Horse show with Riding Sisters by Choice. The show will be held in the castle park.

Tournament with Nordic Knights

Together with the Nordic Knights, we are organising a family adventure at the castle. Jousting tournament, medieval market, black powder shooting and much more.

Empire-era ball

The year is 1803 and we are turning the ground floor into a handsome ballroom. We will start with a welcome toast. Later, enjoy our supper and dessert table, as well as a guided tour through the castle.

Dress code

Dress in suits and ball gowns inspired by fashion from the nineteenth century.

Book tickets to the ball and bus

Price: SEK 250

The bus departs at 17.00 from the City Terminal in Stockholm and returns from Skokloster at 01.00. Book the bus ticket separately on Tickster.

Preparatory dance training

Thursday 17 August at 17.30-20.00. Location to be announced later. No pre-registration. Pay for the dance training on site.
